I have a Thermador 48" gas cooktop with griddle model #PCS486GDUS. The two far left burners are not lighting up and I do not hear or smell gas coming from both either. The spark is good. I'm not sure if its the control simmer module, solenoid or the potentiometer? Can you help narrow down which part? Thank You!
Answer Hello Mike,
If the ignitor is sparking, this eliminates the potentiometer and the spark module. It would also eliminate the ignitor and associated wiring. The solenoid 00415134 will have to be the problem in this instance. I'm sorry but this part has been discontinued by the manufacturer and no satisfactory substitutions have been provided. You may still be able to locate one if you search the web.
The ignition system sparks on all burners intermittently without even turning any burners on. Does this indicate the control unit needs to be replaced?
Answer Hello Ken,
This is most likely a failed potentiometer. You will need to order kit number 00497234 because the new style potentiometers are incompatible with the old simmer controllers. Likewise, the new simmer controllers are incompatible with the old potentiometers. This circuit has been re-designed and all parts must be replaced at the same time to prevent damage to the new parts.
