Bosch parts site cross-referenced seal 00494772 to my SHE55M05UC/50 dishwasher. I ordered the seal directly from Bosch, but when received, seal 00494772 was 4 inches (100 mm) shorter than the original seal, and, when in place, did not extend inward from the installation channel along the bottom of the dishwasher (approximately 2.5 inches) as did the original. When I contacted Bosch parts support, they advised this was the correct part, and that it required a special tool for installation which would stretch it to the proper length, which seems completely idiotic to me. So, I've two questions:
1. Is this correct?
2. If correct, how do I do it myself?
Answer Frustrated Bosch owner,
The part that they have listed 00494772 is showing as the correct part but unfortunately we have never heard of an installation tool for putting a door seal in. It is possible that the seal was cut to short.
Door is leaking water at both sides of bottom. Would like to know how to install the seal PN AP2802338 and if I also need to replace the top and side seals.
Answer Hello Tom,
This sounds more like an overfill situation since the bottom of the door is an air gap used as an air inlet for the dry cycle. The water, when filled to the proper level should not completely submerge the heating element. If it is filling to a higher level, the water inlet valve 00425458 should be replaced. I would check the spray arms 00359976, 00359975 for separations where the two halves are "melted" together at the factory. Also check the holes for debris since a "wave" in the water will cause water to jump the air gap.
I don't show any installation sheet. Could you please explain how I can install this part?
Answer Hi Bill. Door gasket part # 00494772.These are the manufactures instructions. Door gasket/seal :• Door gasket /seal is inserted into channel around top and sides of tank opening. • It is a press fit, no additional sealant is used. examine the old one before removing it so you know the proper placement of the ribs. Thank You.
