Answer Hello Elaine, This sounds like you have removed the check valve 165262 that allows for either drain or circulation. Without this valve in place, the pump will constantly try to both circulate and drain at the same time, preventing the normal operation in either mode. In case I am incorrect in this assumption and the drain pump is in fact the only issue, the pump 642239 will have to be replaced with an additional connector 623143 for the electrical connection. The wire4s are not polarized by the way, so placement of the wires in the connector can be either way. The pump will not know the difference and will operate normally either way.

Answer Hello Sandra, The pump is not polarized so the two connectors can connect to either of the two terminals. Just plug them in and the unit will operate normally either way.

Answer Hello Sseibt, The motor is not polarized so the wires can connect to either of the two connectors. The pump will not no the difference and will operate normally either way.

Answer Hi. By all means if the pump part # 642239 armature is water logged then replace it since it is running shorted. The water got past the internal impeller housing into the motor itself. All the reason for the unnatural noise. Make sure the drain hose under the sink is looped and mounted as high to the back of the under counter wall. Forming a P-trap so the sink water does not back up into the pump and dishwasher. Thank You.
