I need to replace the Drain pump motor assembly but the Bosch part 167082 is Not Available. I tried the suggested replacement munbers on your site but both of the pumps come up not compatable with my model. Is there an alternative? Many thanks, Ross

Water is remaining in the dishwasher and I've checked the drain pump impeller for debris. There are no obstructions and the impeller spins freely. I also hear the drain pump motor activate but no water discharges. I don't hear the expected impeller noise, just a hum. The discharge line is clear and I've verified no blockages. Does this sound like a failed drain pump or are there additional items to check before ordering a replacement?

Answer Hello Al, This would be a bad pump 167082. If the impeller spins freely then the pump has failed, there should be resistance to the impeller like a magnet pulling it back as it spins.

Drain Pump Motor Assembly Part Number: AP2802385 MFG Part Number: 167082. Made by: Bosch. With the toe plate removed the pump motor vibrates and make a whining sound while draining. Other then the dreadful noise, the dishwasher operates fine. I'm 90% sure replacing the pump motor will remedy this issue. The original pump motor has 6 vanes. If I use the "appliance compatibility tool" on the page it states that the part isn't compatible with my model number. Just want to make sure if I order these parts that they will be compatible. 642239 and 623143. Any other gaskets or items that would be prudent to order with the pump motor? Thanks for your time.

I replaced the drain pump with with the recommended part (642239), and the pump is making a lot more noise than the original part. Seems to be draining well (if anything, more efficiently than the original part) but my wife is concerned about/annoyed by the increased noise. Any thoughts?

Answer Headwaters, Before you installed the new part, did you check and flush the sump / drain compartment, and checck to make sure there was no debris left in the drain hose. The other ossibility is air or foam in the drain water, That will make a pump noisy as well.

Hello! Our dishwasher wasnt draining, so my son and I disassembled it, only to find that a mouse had built a nest which tripped the safety switch inside, the red one that apparently detects water on the inside floor of the unit. In the process of our exploration, we took apart the drain motor to see how it works and make sure it was ok. . When I woke up today, the first thing I thought about was that it was likely a mistake to "clean" the rotating magnet inside. What I am sure we did was remove the lube. We tested the dishwasher and it works fine now. Draining perfectly What we need to do, though, is lube that motor. Any suggestions for lubricant?

Answer Hello Marji, The rotating magnet inside the motor should be dry. Since the only friction that should be present is from the magnetic field. the only thing that would necessitate lubrication is the bushings on each end. This uses a light layer of white lube, but you would have to disassemble the motor to get the grease where it needs to be. I do not recommend the dis-assembly of the motor assembly.
