The door latch broke and the part that broke off is inside the latch mechanism on the machine. How do I remove this broken piece?

If you cannot retrieve it with a set of needle nosed pliers, you may have to replace the door switch assembly.

Answer Hi Mimi. The door latch striker is part # 154074. The door latch itself is part # 178618. The torx-type screwdriver is purchased at a local hardware store. The t-15 and t-20 size is what you need . I believe the correct one is the T-20 size. Thank You.

The screwdriver that is used to unfasten the current latch is uncommon. What kind of screwdriver is it and can it be bought. I want to order the replacement latch, but can't' use a common screwdriver.

Answer Hello Barbara. You will need to purchase a torx screwdriver TJ20000072 to remove the screws. Hope this helps.
