Answer Hello Peter. That is correct. The float in the bottom starts the pump, but the pump can not remove the water in the bottom, only in the inner tub assembly. It sounds like the water valve may be causing the issue with the overflow chamber leaking on the unit.

Answer Peter, Apparently you have a couple of issues, The first, if the drain pump runs, but the water doesn't evacuate, then you need to check the drain hose and plumbing for kinks and clogs. If the hoses and drain check OK, you'll need to dismantle the drain pump and check the drain impeller for damage, or stripped impeller on the shaft.The water leak at the water inlet system, could be due to the drain issue, but you want to check for debris or deposits in the system. Answer Hello Peter. No, the pump 167082 turns on when the float is lifted. It does this thinking the valve is leaking into the tub and to prevent a flood in the house. If there is water in the base of the unit, you will need to locate the leak and replace the part that is leaking on the unit.
