I have a Thermador model ct227nw dated about 1994. I can no longer use the lower oven at all, when I turn on I get a E6 error. The upper oven I can only use "bake". No longer able to use Convection broil, etc. I get E6 error when I try to use those options. Do I need a new control panel or another part.
Oven use to make clicking noises when off, but that was several years ago about the same time I was unable to use the broil and other options.
This has been going on for several years, read parts not available. Love oven, but do not want to pay for a brand new oven with all these options. Pls help.

The E-6 fault code is an indication of an over-temperature condition. Most of these have a hi-temp cutout. This part looks like a thermostat but has a button in the center of it which serves as a reset button. If you try to reset it, first be sure to turn the power off first as there will be 120Vac on one side at all times that power is supplied to the unit. Also, some of these are hard to reset so it is recommended to press in on the button and "wiggle" it back and forth while pressing it in. This will cause it to make a clicking noise. If the cutout opens again too soon, it will require replacement.
