Washing machine would not drain

My Repair & Advice
Washing machine pump failed with the washing machine full of water. Replacing a pump used to be a bear of a job with belts, pulleys, etc. but I thought that I should give it a look before I called the repairman. This one turned out to be a small discrete unit bolted to the bottom of the washer. I ordered the new pump, which came very quickly to my door. It was a ten minute job to replace it. One thing that I did that made the job much less of a mess was to use a wet vacuum on the drain hose and that sucked the tub dry in seconds. Save $120 on service calls, and at least on day of vacation waiting for the repairman.
