My Repair & Advice
I ordered a replacement ice maker. I called in to AppliancePartsPros to make sure the item was picked correctly for my model refrigerator. Ordered it and it arrived the next day FedEx Ground. I watched an installation video which showed that ice maker installation is very easy. Unplug the refrig, loosen two wall screws the ice maker hangs from, remove two other screws to allow removal of a small aluminum support bracket, unplug the wire harness from the back wall in the refrig, put the wire harness parts from the old unit on the new unit, including the ice pile detector - all very easy, and then put the new one in. Don't forget to feed the water hose into the ice maker - also very easy.
Once the ice maker was put in service, it seemed slower than the old one - maybe it is, maybe it has to work air out of the line since I changed the water filter at the same time. In any event, the repair was very straightforward and the new ice maker makes ice and doesn't leak.
