Pipe chatter whenever the fill valves were operating

Kris K. • Pittsburg, CA • June 12, 2014
Appliance: Model LSR5233E01 WHIRLPOOL My Repair & Advice

Replaced the solenoid water fill valves. The video tutoring was extremely helpful. The new valve was not an identical match so I had to make some modifications, to wit: the top screw did not align and the two side screws didn't either. Did a pre-drill and used some tech screws and the problem went away. The biggest problem was getting the sheet metal housing back on. What I did was raise the front of the structure with some 1/2" plywood and then the housing went on smoothly. Make a note to replace the hose washers when you re-install the hot and cold hoses and if you are using the black hoses get them replaced with the stainless steel braided kind. I am a plumbing contractor and I have seen way too much water damage done by those black rubber hoses.
