One shock was completely broken.

Used a mix of the provided instructions and a you tube video. It was really difficult to work on the RH shock because of all the additional pumps and control boxes on that side. One place recommended using a 13 mm deep socket to hold down the pressure clip and we then used a thin wood dowel to push it out. Since you are trying to push the pin for the new shock from the back, we ended up rigging a clamp to squeeze it back in. There really is not enough space to swing a hammer back there. The new shocks seem pretty well built and made in Germany. I saw some online reviews that complained about thin, cheap Mexican shocks. It does work better an run quieter. Wear padded gloves because you will crack your knuckles.
