After reading though some other issues here, I am convinced my water filter base needs to be replaced. There is water gushing from it and leaving a mess in the fridge. My problem is that the filter appears to be "stuck" in place. The release button on the right is partly pushed in and therefore won't allow the filter to come loose. Is there another way to remove this filter?

We recently purchased a new Puresource2 filter for our fridge. It clicks into place but every time you use the water the filter pops out. I've read you answers to others with the same issue and you tell them that they have to purchase a new base. My question is why do you have to purchase a new base? The new filter is the exact same part number so it should work correctly.

Latest Questions

Water has been leaking from the filter area in my refrigerator for a while. I removed the filter to let some water build up so I could see where it was coming from. It did not appear to be coming from the filter connectors. I took down the control box and discovered that the water is actually coming from *above* the control box and where the water line is. It's a slow drip from, what appears to be a plastic tray that is underneath a Styrofoam piece. The tray is made from two pieces of plastic. The front of the tray appeared to easily move and after pulling a little it partially came out revealing a corner where it looked like it had been glued. What kind of glue goes there? What's the best way of fixing this? It looks like a little glue will fix the leak. Is this part of the evaporator? I can't find that tray part in the service diagram.

The water dispenser started to malfunction. First the water would stop flowing after it appeared to empty the line. Wait five minutes and then it would work again until the lines were empty. Today, it was just dripping when activated. I put a new filter in. No luck. Read about the water filter base may be the culprit. Noticed the little plastic tip on the water filter base inlet/outlet on the right hand side was way over to the right. I tried to coax it back into alignment and it popped out. Doesn't appear broken, but may be. Didn't read any hints for removal of this particular model.

My ice/water dispensers didn't work, and I believe it was due to the water filter base holes that the filter plugs in to being broken/worn. I replaced the filter base, and now the filter that was plugged in to the old base won't seal quite as nice, and it leaks. Would a new filter be a decent suggestion to fix the leakage?
