Both the top and bottom oven have stopped working. The bottom oven will heat, but will not maintain proper temp. We replaced the control panel and nothing changed. What should be our next step.

Answer Hello Brett. Make sure both elements are working in the lower oven. If so, you may have a bad temp sensor 316490001 in the lower oven. If nothing is working on the top oven, you will need to check and make sure the thermal switch 318004900 is not tripped on the unit. If you press in on the red button, and it clicks, it was tripped. Also, it should read closed for continuity. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html If it is good, you will test for power from the relay board. If there is no power going to the elements from the board, replace the relay board on the unit.
When using the top oven at a high temp (450°F+) and attempting to use the lower oven at an equal or lesser temp (regular and convection) the lower oven will stop working and I get an F2 or F5 flashing on the display. The repair guy told us to replace the whole oven but I think it must be simpler than that.

Answer Hello Cheryl,
Being a repair technician, there is no way I would replace the oven unless the part needed turns out to be out of production. Try this chart and see what you fault code turns out to be.
Frigidaire Range / Stove / Oven Fault CodesFailure CodeFault Code DescriptionSolution F0 Electronic oven control failure Replace electronic oven control (also called EOC or clock). F1 Electronic oven control failure Replace electronic oven control (also called EOC or clock). F2 Oven temperature too hot Check and replace oven temperature sensor (RTD). F3 Open oven temperature sensor (RTD) Check sensor harness and harness connection between oven sensor and oven control. Replace oven temperature sensor (RTD) if wiring is ok. F4 Shorted oven temperature sensor (RTD) Check sensor harness and harness connection between oven sensor and oven control. Replace oven temperature sensor (RTD) if wiring is ok. F5 Electronic oven control failure Replace electronic oven control (also called EOC or clock). F6 Electronic oven control failure Replace electronic oven control (also called EOC or clock). F8 Oven door lock failure Check lock relay and door switches.
