The condenser fan on my frigidaire PUS2686lf0 is not running. It trips in intermittently, sometimes one revolution and stops. It also seems as if the compressor just keep on going.
You will want to check the voltage to your unit to ensure that there is a steady 120 vac coming to the fan motor. If there is a steady 120 vac then the motor is faulty and would need to be replaced.
Compressor runs constantly and only shuts off during defrost cycle about every 8 hours. Thermistor, defrost thermostat and defrost element all seem to be functioning properly. Any suggestions?
Answer Hello Jeff,
If the condenser coils, (hot coils behind or under the unit), are clear and the unit can pass air through them and the unit is maintaining temperature, you should check the frost pattern on the evaporator coils, (cold coils in the freezer compartment). There should be an even frost patter pretty much the entire length of the coils. If there is only an ice ball, you have lost Freon from the sealed system. If the frost pattern starts halfway down the coils, you have a sealed system restriction. Either way is not good since this type repair has to be done by a Freon certified technician.
