Compressor runs constantly and only shuts off during defrost cycle about every 8 hours. Thermistor, defrost thermostat and defrost element all seem to be functioning properly. Any suggestions?
Answer Hello Jeff,
If the condenser coils, (hot coils behind or under the unit), are clear and the unit can pass air through them and the unit is maintaining temperature, you should check the frost pattern on the evaporator coils, (cold coils in the freezer compartment). There should be an even frost patter pretty much the entire length of the coils. If there is only an ice ball, you have lost Freon from the sealed system. If the frost pattern starts halfway down the coils, you have a sealed system restriction. Either way is not good since this type repair has to be done by a Freon certified technician.
The freezer freezes up and makes the temp go up in freezer and refrigerator, what causes this?
If the rear wall of the freezer is freezing up and causing the temperature to rise then you have a defrost failure. You will want to pull the rear wall in the freezer compartment and check for continuity on the defrost heater and defrost thermostat. If they do not have continuity then replace the part that is not showing continuity. If they both have continuity then you would want to replace the main control board.
Note: This question is for the older version of this part, but we thought you might still find it helpful
Frig display reads SY CE and turns off and on and beeps.
The SY CE is a communication error between the main control board 5303918498 and the dispenser board 241973711. You will want to check connections to make sure that they are good. In most cases the failure is in the main control board but may be necessary to change out both.
