Freezer is running about 30 degrees and alarm light and buzzer is on. What should I try first defrost sensor or temp control?
Answer Hello Randy. Is there frost build up on the back freezer wall? If so, there is a defrost problem. If there is no frost build up, you will need to check and see if the compressor is running. If not, you will need to test the compressor. Here is a link to our Repair Forum, this is a free service to our customers. Use this link to access the repair for your question. What is a sealed systems repair?
Answer Hello George! A sealed system repair consists of the replacement of one of the following parts; compressor, evaporator, condenser, interconnecting tubing, drier and/or refrigeration charge. Thanks!
Unit is not cold. Temperature is about 50F. No frost. Changed the freezer defrost thermostat which checked bad when I checked it for continuity. Also turned the temperature alarm off. Please advise.
Answer Hello Bob. If the unit is shutting off, before the temperature is reached, then the temperature control 216521100 could be bad. If it continues to run, but does not get cold enough to freeze, you will need to remove the back wall inside the freezer and see if there is an ice ball on the evaporator coils 216195900. If so, there could be a restriction in the sealed system. If it is clear, you will need to feel the filter dryer 5303305677 and see if it is warm. If not, you may have a restriction or a freon leak. If either one of these are bad, you will need a sealed system repair. Hope this helps.
