This freezer has the temp control in the back where the access to the compressor is. It only turns in one direction and has a click. Is the 'click' the coldest or hottest?? thanks.
When you turn the dial it should turn one direction of on and one direction for off. When the dial clicks then stops this is the off position. When you turn the opposite direction it should turn the unit on and if you go until it stops then that is the coldest setting. There should be a raised area next to the numbers that will tell you what number it should be set at.
To test a defrost thermostat ,can you just tone out the two wires on it ?
Answer Hello Kevin,
To test defrost timer do a continuity check between the 2 wires. Check it when it is cold and you should have continuity.
My freezer runs constantly it gets to about 0°F. Do you think the thermostat/temperature control could be bad?
Answer Hello Walt,
The thermostat could be bad, but 0°F is perfect for the freezer with an ice maker. I would first pull the kick plate off and vacuum the coils. If you cannot access them from the front, pull the unit out and remove the bottom rear cover and vacuum them from there. Most of the time when a unit runs continuously, it is having problems dissipating the heat it has removed from inside the unit back into the room. While you're back there you need to make sure the condenser fan is running.
