I have a 5 year old upright freezer that has started to run all the time unless it goes into defrost cycle. I have a thermometer in the freezer and it is at -10 to -12 degrees but keeps running. The unit has nothing covering it up on the sides. The sides and top get hot and the compressor is very hot. I get water on the floor when it is in a defrost cycle. I have tried to change the control knob on the inside from 6 to 2 but it keeps running even after a few hours. I can get it to stop running by turning the knob to off or close to it. Any ideas?

The freezer on our Kenmore side by side runs all the time. If I turn it down it doesn't stop. The only way to stop it is to shut it off. Is this most likely the temp control?

We have a Frigidaire upright frost free freezer, it seems to be turning on and going thru its correct cycles. it goes thru the defrost fine. The problem we are having is its not getting all the way down to freezing. If we put something in it that is already frozen it stays frozen but it wont take a thawed item and freeze it solid. The compressor is not running constantly and all the coils are clean nothing seems to be gummed up. Any suggestions as to what might cause it to not get completely cold?

Freezer is about 9 years old. It will not freeze anymore. It is self defrosting but had a buildup. I got that so it is not frozen on bottom of freezer and drip pan is ok. could it be the condensor. It doesn't seem to be running. Fan sounds very low.

My upright freezer will not shut off. I mean that when I turn the temperature control knob to off it doesnt shut off. It is keeping the food frozen but when turned to the off position it does not turn off, it is running constantly. Is it the temperature control switch that needs to be replaced? I figure it must be stuck open insire the switch and thats why it will not turn of. Please help. Thanks very much!!!
