My freezer runs constantly, it never shuts off. It does not matter the setting and my gasket is in good shape. What part or parts should I replace? Thanks.
Answer Hello Ken,
If the unit is running constantly then you would want to check to make sure that the unit is defrosting. Look at the back wall of the lower freezer and look for frost build up. If there is frost build up then you are having a defrost issue and would need to take the lower cover off and check for impacted coils. Coils impacted you will want to check the defrost thermostat and defrost heater for continuity. If they do not have continuity then you would need to replace component that is bad. If they check ok then you would want to replace the controller. If the coils are not impacted then you would want to check to make sure that there is a frost pattern. If no frost pattern or only partial frost pattern then you have sealed system issue. If the frost pattern is good then you would want to check the thermistor for resistance. Resistance should be 10k at 77 degrees. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
Is the Controller the same thing as a Defrost Timer?
Answer Hello Jay. No, the controller 216954214 is the start device for the compressor. 297370602 is the control board and is the timer for the unit.
