I purchased the defrost timer because my evap fan motor was running non-stop. That didn't help. I'm thinking the thermostat defrost is the problem. I don't know where it's located from the diagram of the systems components on my model. Can you tell me if I need to remove the panel with the evap fan motor in the freezer to find it? Can I return the defrost timer I bought and didn't need? Appreciate your response.

I had a frost buildup which caused the unit to stop working. The defrost heater test OK using a multimeter. When I took the back off the freezer compartment I noticed the defrost thermostat has two wires leading out of it, one red the other white. The red wire is not connected to anything. There is another red wire that looks like the red thermostat wire should be connected to with one wire having a male connector the other wire a female. Should I just connect the two wires? I think this "other" red wire may lead to the defrost heater

My freezer is running all the time even though I turned all the controls down. THe food in the refrilgerator is also starting to freeze. About frive or six years ago I replaced the temp control and the defrost thermostat. I would like to know what to do now.

Latest Questions

I noted that my refrigerator and freezer were getting warm and the appliance was running non stop. I cleaned out the bottom condenser of dust and also noted frost build up on the back freezer wall. I emptied the unit and let it defrost over night. It is now running and all is correct on temps in the freezer and fridge though I noted that it will not stop running. I turned the control knob in the freezer way down and would think I would have heard a clicking sound when the thermostat clicked off but it does not click and the unit continues to run unless I turn the knob to off. I turned the timer to the defrost mode and waited to see if it was working which it is as the unit turned back on after a period of time. I think I need the thermostat control but the guides are telling me it is a defrost control. Could you help me on this so I can get the correct part..it is listed in the guide as 5303300027. Does the freezer walls have to be removed to install this or is all of the unit contained under the panel in the freezer section...in other words...can I replace this with out a tech and/or too much problem. Thank you.

Frost is building up on the ice dispenser chute. The chute door is closing and I checked this with a light to make sure there was no leakage of light for air to intrude. The parts diagram shows a heater at the door flap. Now too the evaporator core was almost 2/3 a chunk of ice. Does the defrost thermostat control the heater in the door flap area? Also the heater in the evap. showed continuity. So something is causing the evap to freeze up as well as the frost and ice buildup at the ice dispenser chute opening. Once I defrosted the evap, the refrigerator now cycles and the timer is clocking. But I really wonder if I have a multitude of parts that have failed, like the defrost timer, defrost thermostat and the door flap heater. Would the defrost thermostat control the defrost cycles for both the door flap and the evap. heater?

Freezer is building up ice and then leaking out through the door. Should I change the heating coil or defrost thermostat?
