My dishwasher just stopped working.. power source and power breaker ok.. when I shut the door nothing happens?? Could this be a door latch issue?? Can it be replaced?
Answer Jan, since most Frigidaire dishwashers do not have a thermal fuse or an in line fuse in the wiring, yes, the door latch assembly is a likely issue. If one of the switches has faie or a wire is broken or loose, this could prevent the dishwasher from operating. If you could supply a model number and a e mail address, we will be happy to review the parts and service needs and procedures and send you the information we have on file.
The entire latch press handle on outside snapped off, it was getting harder and harder to squeeze latch to release. Would the latch kit be the appropriate part for me to buy? Is it hard to replace? I am pretty handy for a woman do you think I can do it?Thank you for your reply I will be waiting to know what to order. Now the black plastic latch that broke off is completely shot.
Answer Hello Patricia! Yes, you'll need to replace the dishwasher door latch kit 5304442175. The repair is pretty easy. You'll need to open the door and remove the screws holding the control panel. Once you have the screws removed you can remove the control panel. The latch is held on by screws that will need to be removed to remove the latch. Remove wiring and reinstall the latch in the reverse order. You'll need to pull the old gasket off the tub. Start on one end and work around. It might be easier to install to soak the gasket in hot water, to help take its shape/form. When you install the gasket make sure the dot on the back of the gasket lines up with the latch and press the gasket into the tub liner. Close the door and leave it closed for several hours to help the seal take its shape to the dishwasher. Hope this helps you, thanks.
