What makes the ice chute door open? Apparently it isn't the ice. Please help.
Bigboy for Model Number 253.5738860
Answer Bigboy, Correct, the ice cubes do not open the chute door. That is a mechanical operation When you press the ice lever, it interacts with the ice chute door, to open it and at the same time activates the actuator switch and the auger motor runs, to push the cubes foward and out the bucket. You'll need to dismantle the dispenser and check the ice actuator lever 241682103 and ice chute door 241688401 for cracked or broken components. If you can re post your question with an e mail address, we'll be happy to send more information to assist you. Thanks
Ice maker only dispenses CRUSHED Ice and Not Cubed. What could be the problem?
Sstop for Model Number FRS26F4CB1
Answer Hello Sstop. You will need to check and see if the solenoid assembly 241675701 is bad or rusted. If so, you will need to replace the solenoid assembly. Test and make sure there is power coming to it, when the selection is made between crushed and cubed. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
