Leaking water inside refrigerator. Other than that works fine.
You will want to check the drain trough to make sure that the drain hole is not clogged. If it is clogged with ice you will need to remove the ice and flush with hot water and may need to snake out the drain line to ensure that there is no clog in the drain line.
On the ceiling in my refrigerator, there's a box with a hose toward the back/inside of the frig that is leaking water. Is this a simple fix? Maybe just a broken/cracked hose or clogged hose?
Answer Hello Jackie,
This is the defrost drain. If you open the fresh food door and look straight up at the control box you will see an opening near the center that has a screw in it. This is normally a 1/4 inch head screw. Removing it will allow you to lower the box and unplug the wiring harness from the ceiling. You can now use a piece of weed eater line to chase the drain tube. If you hit a point where it won't go all the way through, twisting the line while you push it in will normally make it go around any turn it may have encountered. It will need to be at least six feet long to go all of the way through. As a note, the square weed eater line is easier to manage in this application. Once clear, you can re-assemble the unit and put it back into operation.
Does this model have a drain pan underneath and if so does it need to be cleaned or changed? Thank you
Answer Hi. The unit does have a drain pan part # . You can unbolt it to clean it if needed. The condenser fan pulls hot air from the compressor and condenser coils across the top of the pan to evaporate the water. But it will also pull in floor dust and debris to clog the coils. Remove the back and super clean the condenser with a condenser brush and the shop vac. Thank You.
