I am having trouble removing the drive bar (AP4298816). There is a metal clip over the drive nut. Do I need to remove this and if so, how? I can't get a socket wrench over the nut with the clip in place.
Answer Hello Mike,
These normally have left hand threads so you will need to hit the side that will unscrew it. Hitting it with a small hammer will break it free from the motor shaft with no socket or wrench.
How do you remove the old drive bar to replace it with the new one? I don't see a video for this repair.
Answer Hello Tracey,
This part is common to strip out and just spin on the motor shaft. It is also common for the threads on the motor shaft to strip. In either case, the drive bar has to be removed from the motor shaft. To get it to thread off, I use a pair of 45° needle nosed pliers behind the drive bar to apply force on it away from the motor assembly. While applying this force on it, you can use a hammer to tap on the drive bar, (usually left handed threads), to get the drive bar to grab the threads and thread off. This is a bit difficult but not nearly as hard as it sounds.
