My ice dispenser's metal components are all rusty. Any reason you can think of why this would happen?
Rickay for Model Number frs26zth
Answer Hi Rickay. OK, I have to presume that the dispenser assy. is the fountain control area. There are a couple of reasons that this could contribute to all of this. Mainly you look up inside the front of the chute area. Is the chute partially open? This allows the outside air create moisture in this area. The chute needs to close very tight to keep the frozen air internally in the freezer. If the chute is closed then the chute itself rubber seal needs changed part # 5304402125. There is a coiled spring part # 5304401779 that fits on one end of the ice door wire part # 5304401778. It holds back tension on the flapper to keep it closed. If the chute motor has hung up and not closing it too will allow the chute to stay open. It is part # 218740005. There is a disp. throat heater part # 218870201 as well. check it for voltage and continuity. You need to investigate for all parts needed. Thank You.
There is no nut securing the blade. Is that something that I can purchase. The issue is that the auger turns, but the blade and the plastic shute doesn't turn.

Answer Hello PRW. Here is the part the manufacture calls the nut 241685001. You will need to remove the E-ring 241690201 and disassemble the auger 241716101 to see the flat spots. If the drive blade is rounded out, you will need to replace the drive blade 241684501. Hope this helps.
