Answer Hello William, It sounds like this would be a infinite switch issue causing the element to stay in the warm position rather than cycle off and on.

Answer Hello William. Disconnect the power and open the oven door. Remove the screws holding the front of the top to the front of the frame and lift the front of the top assembly. The elements are held onto the top assembly with bars. You remove the screws on the end of the bar and swing the bar down. Then you can replace the elements in the unit.

Answer Hi James. Yes this is a one piece replacement element. Part # is 316235301. It may be done if you really want to extend wires and see if the regular 6/8" burner will work. The corresponding switch will also have to be changed. Best of luck. Thank you.
