Are the aluminum lines factory braised to copper or will I be braising copper to aluminum?

Answer Hello Clay. The copper is attached to the evaporator. However, the copper will need to be brazed to other copper lines in the unit. Heat will melt the evaporator and liner if you are not using the proper stuff to repair the unit.

My fridge's compressor went out and we replaced it. Charged it back up and put 6.5oz of 134a back in. Fired right up and seemed to run great. 2 weeks later the fridge started to not cool and only would run at 48 deg. Pulled the inside panel off while talking to a HVAC friend about the issue and he said to look at the evaporator while it was running. The fridge was calling for cooling, compressor was running, and there was a 6" chunck of copper line that was frozen. This was an 1" up from where the copper comes through the bottom of the fridge from that point 6" up and also where the copper to aluminum connecton was. He was saying that there was propably a blockage from the old compressor oil? I pulled off the freeze stat and lightly defrosted it while it was off. Started it back up and it started to freeze in the same area. If i have a blockage and buy a new evaporator will the new one already have copper already brazed on to the aluminum. My HVAC buddy is nervious brazing the connecton. Also would you say that I sould install a new line filter?

Answer Hello Clay. You should have pulled a vacuum on the unit and it should have removed and moisture in the unit. As for, the filter drier, you always replace them when you replace a compressor. The evaporator will come with the copper, but if you do not use a heat shield, you will melt the evaporator and the line in the unit.

Answer Silvio, The freezer getting too cold would not have anything to do with the evaporator. The issue you are having would more than likely be in the control board 216979600.
