How do I remove cover fan part # 240355407?
Answer Hello Bill,
Unplug the refrigerator. Remove the icemaker, (if equipped), by removing the three mounting screws and unplugging the icemaker. Remove the screw at the upper left to remove the plastic harness cover. If there is no icemaker all but unplugging the refrigerator is skipped. Remove the two screws holding in the evaporator coil cover. Drop the panel toward you and disconnect the wiring harness from the panel and from the evaporator fan motor. Remove the evaporator cover and lay it on a protected work surface to flip it and remove the retaining screws. There are two tabs at the top that require this piece be rotated up to release it from the evaporator cover. Reverse this procedure to re-install.
Is the large metal plate inside on back wall.(evap. cover plate??) supposed to have a slit in the bottom of it???
Yes the slit going side to side on the evaporator cover is supposed to be there. This is for air circulation and if it was not there the unit would not cool properly.
