I have a rust spot on the backside of the refrigerator. The rust spot has eaten it's way through to the outside. If I put my hand on it , the spot is moist. The spot is about a third of the way from the top (about where the ice maker is) and very close to the edge. Do you have any idea what can be causing that ? Thanks, Kris .
Answer Kris, The rust spot will have moisture and sometimes condensation in the area because this is where the cold air from the inside of the freezer is meeting the room temperature air, when cold air meets warm air, you have moisture and or condensation. Apparently, you've had this spot for quite a while, it takes a bit of time to produce the type situation you're describing. You my want to sand the area as best possible, and apply a metal epoxy patch, or a few coats of paint over the area to reduce the transfer and moisture. That should keep you going for quite a while longer.
