Ordered door gasket and received correct part. Have installed per directions. When you close the door it will not seal. Can you help?
Answer Hello William,
The door seal has probably got creases from being folded in the shipping box. This is easily dealt with by using a hair dryer. Heat the door seal until it is so hot it is almost impossible to touch. Use a popsicle stick or something else blunt that will not damage the seal to help manipulate the seal so it contacts the cabinet. When you have gone all the way around the door, let the door stay closed until it has cooled off. When the seal cools, it will retain the shape it was in when it cooled so it will keep the proper shape. If the situation is that the new seal is too thick to allow the door to seal, you may have to use a shoebox to cut out spacers to fit behind the door hinges. This is sometimes necessary when the new door seal is thicker than the original.
Need the rubber seal for my Frigidaire upright refrigerator. What part # should I be looking for? And is it easy to install?
The part number for the door seal is 216522309. To install you will have to loosen the screws that are located around the perimeter of the door panel under the gasket. Once loosened you want to pull the old gasket out and new gasket edge goes behind the door panel.
