should gears be continually turning? i unplugged to defrost freezer and when plugged back in did not see gears turning
Sam
Answer Sam, This appears to be the main gear of the ice maker control head/mechanism ? The gear and motor are not a continuous run sytem. Basically, when the thermostat 3206322 reaches a preset temperature, the circuit colses and the motor advance, once the water enters the mold, the motor/gear stalls until the thermostat resets and closes again to allow the motor to advance, turns the mold heater on to loosen the cubes and eject them into the bucket. This process occurs approximately every 60 to 90 minutes, and takes 5 to 10 minutes to complete the cycle, until the ice bucket is full or the icemaker is turned off. Thanks and Good Luck
What is the use of this gear?
