When I try to put the metal arm down to start the maker it only goes half way down and does not start the maker. Any suggestion how to get the arm all the way down? There is no ice cubes in the way nor is the arm frozen.

Answer Joe,
If this is a Frigidaire model and the icemaker arm is not going down then the icemaker arm is either bound or the unit has stopped working at a point in which the lever arm would stay up. In either case it would require a new icemaker.
When my ice maker is filling with water, there is a grinding sound. I've listened to it closely and is not coming from the ice maker itself. Seems like it is coming from somewhere lower. There is no grinding sound when dispensing water from the door. Please help.

Answer Hello John,
The grinding sound may be coming from the icemaker solenoid. You can pull unit out and cycle the icemaker. When it cycles and starts to fill with water, if you have the lower cover off you can listen for the noise and touch the valve to see if it is jumping. Even though the water works properly the icemaker side of the valve may be defective.
My ice maker is not working. I get water out of the drinking side but nothing in the ice tray. Could it be the water fill valve? How do I check the water fill valve? Or do i have to buy the whole valve kit. The auger is not cycling either

Answer Hello Ted,
The first thing that you want to check is to make sure that the fill tube that feeds the icemaker is not frozen. A frozen fill tube will not allow water to enter unit and cause no ice production. If the fill tube is frozen it would be caused by either low water pressure, bad water filter or a seeping water valve. If the filter has not been changed within last 6 months then you would want to change out filter WF1CB. The water pressure issue could be cause by bad filter. The water valve seeping would require a new water valve assembly 242252702.
