On a hot summer night the freezer door was left open. All the ice had melted so I cleaned up and closed the door. The freezer works fine but the ice maker stopped making ice what can this be? Thank you
In most cases the cause for the icemaker not to work would be that moisture got into the icemaker motor and seized it up. One thing that you can try is to take the cover off the icemaker and the small gear that is on the icemaker head has a slot in it. Turn this gear counter clockwise and it should go into a cycle. Allow the icemaker to run and see if the icemaker goes through a full rotation and fills with water. If not then the icemaker would be the issue.
Water is going to the filter and from filter to dispenser but not from filter to ice maker, the best I can tell.
You will want to check at the water valve to make sure that there is power getting to the water valve when the unit calls for water. If there is 120 vac when the icemaker calls for water then the issue will be in the water valve which would need to be replaced. If there is no power then the icmaker would need to be replaced.
