My husband just replace ice maker part #243297603 and the tray will fill up with water but will not freeze and make ice. He replaced this part 2 days ago and last night he even replaced the water filter and still no change. Why aren't we getting ice?
Answer Hello Wendy,
If the water is not freezing, the freezer cannot be getting cold enough. The icemaker has to be at or below 20°F for the cycling thermostat to start a cycle. If the water isn't freezing, the freezer compartment has to be above 32°F. You need to determine the temperature in the freezer compartment since the icemaker cannot freezer the water. This is the job of the freezer.
My ice mold broke which caused clumps of ice in which my thermistor got stuck in and when the auger turned on it broke thermistor wires. when this happened the entire refrigerator lost power. If I replace the ice maker will that fix it or is there an issue with the control board as well. thanks
Answer Hello Stephen,
It is possible for the unit to have issues from the icemaker failure but it appears that the dispense board is the one that would be giving the trouble. Since it could also have an issue back to the main board, you should check for voltage to the dispense board before replacing the main board. If the voltage is leaving the main board 242115239 and going into the dispense board 241973711, replacing the icemaker and the dispense board will cure the issue. If voltage is not leaving the main board to the dispense board, it will most likely take both boards and the icemaker 243297603 to correct the issue.
