The ignighter glows orange, but burner does not go on.
Answer Hello Marty. Test and see if there is 3.0-3.4 volts AC at the safety valve when the igniter is turned on. If the voltage is low, the igniter 318177710 is weak and will need to be replaced. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
The igniter dose not glow. How would I check it to be faulty?
Answer Hi Earl. A cold ignitor reads between 75-800 ohms. It is checked by clamping on one wire leads going to the gas valve with your amp probe. In calling for heat, you wiil need to have 3.2-3.6 amps within 30-45 sec. to open the gas valve. It will also glow a white hot instead of a orange color. This part # is 318177710. Thank you.
What should the amps be to open the gas valve on ingniter # 318177710?
Answer Hello John. There should be 3.2 to 3.6 volts AC or 3.2 to 3.6 Amps on the igniter wire at the gas valve with the igniter on. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DM1. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
