How to I replace the ignitor on a stove top burner?
Answer Hello Bob,
Begin by removing the grates and burner caps. Be sure the power is disconnected to prevent electrical shock. Remove the screws in the burner bases and remove the burner bases. Now the main top can be raised. I usually just prop the main top up and work under it. Now the ignitor/orifice holders can be accessed. Unplug the wire from the ignitors and loosen the tubes from the surface burner valves and replace them in the reverse order. As a note, if the unit is on LP, you will need to change the orifices out also. This will allow the unit to properly operate since the new parts will come with orifices for Natural gas.
