My microwave oven does not heat. All other functions are working. What components would I look to replace?
Thanks

Answer Hello Bill. You need to check the magnetron. It should read less than 1 ohm. Also, make sure the diode only reads in 1 direction. If both are good, replace the H.V. transformer in the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
My microwave heats 1 out of 5-7 times I use it but everything else works (turntable, lights, panel). I'm thinking about the switches, can I replace them without removing it from the wall?

Answer Hi Fernando. Its really a matter of testing the individual parts from the control panel output of 120 vac to the transformer input leads. Then from there you cannot test with live voltage because of safety issues. You will need to ohm out the transformer winding leads for resistance, opens or shorts to ground. Testing the diode, capacitor and the magnetron as well. They all work off one another to create the radio frequency waves and creates the heat effect needed. A visual look at the top of the magnetron tip for burnt areas as well as seeing if the side magnets are cracked and damaged. Thank You.
