Are there instuctions on how to replace glass/ceramic cook top? Is it difficult to do, or would you need a repair person? Thanks!
Answer Hello Sherry,
Dis-connect the power to the unit and open the door. Remove the two screws holding the front of the top assembly to the front frame and the top will lift up. The elements are held against the glass by two bars, one for the front elements and one for the rear elements. Most designs are held to the main top by two screws on one end and a tab on the other. Remove the two screws and swing the bar down. If any wires are dis-connected, they should be marked first or take several pictures with your cell phone before dis-connecting them to eliminate any confusion during re-assembly. The rear of the main top is set up on hinge points. These will normally let go if pushed to one side. Be sure to check the bottom of the old main top assembly for any spacers. These are used to keep the main top level in the installed position. The new top will not come with them so they will have to be transferred from the old top to the new one. Assembly is in the reverse order.
