My ice dispenser has come apart and no longer works. Do I have to replace the whole door assembly?

Answer Hello Karen,
It depends on what part of the dispenser came off as to what would be needed. Did the door come off, did the lever break. We will need your model number to help you with this. Please post your model number with a new question on the parts page. http://www.appliancepartspros.com/modelnumber_locator.aspx
my ice dispenser does not work on either crushed or cube ice the water dispenser works would this be solenoid or module.

Answer John, We'd expect the issue to be in the auger motor 241676201 or dispenser actuator switch 241689101 or switch 241679101 but not the solenoid. The solenoid determines what type of ice, cubed or crushed, and the auger motor "moves" the ice out of the bin. You first want to check the wiring harness at the freezer door hinge, make sure there are no loose connections or damaged wiring. You will need to remove the ice bin, rail assembly and disconnect the wires from the auger motor, tape the freezer door switch closed and check for 120 VAC to the wires on the motor, when the dispenser paddle is pressed. If you have the voltage, then the auger motor is faulty. If there's no voltage, you'll need to duismantle the dispenser and check the switches.
