My Repair & Advice
Since I don't have all the tools or skills to properly diagnose an issue, i often employ the "trial and error" method. My logic is that the part probably needed to be replaced anyway.
Originally thought it to the be the water valve (which turned out to be an easy repair).
After attempt #1 did not solve the complete problem (less water accumulating, but still some water accumulating) I emailed a question late Sunday evening to the 24/7 hotline, and they suggested the proper solution and part.
Upon closer inspection, i did notice some mold around the outer ice cute door which was a sign i was not getting a good seal. Warm air was going up the chute, melting the ice, and then dripping down.
Ordered the part on Monday, showed up Tuesday afternoon. 20 minutes later, no drips and my wife loves me again. Invited my 14 year old to help out, taught him "if you need to force plastic parts, you probably have something misaligned or wires un-tucked". Was able to illuminate him to that fact several times :).
Also taught him "take pictures as you disassemble" - we needed to refer to those once or twice as well.
Great website - prices alone lead me here with the added bonus of expert advice. They have guided me though my drier, washer and now refrigerator repair. Saved me big bucks!
