When trying to start oven, sometimes smell of gas and then oven lights with a pop or bang (small explosion), also take about 20 minutes to heat up to 350* degrees.

The bottom oven burner will not ignite although the igniter glows yellow. The broiler and top burners all work well. Is this a faulty thermocouple and is that a part of the igniter?

When I turn on oven, it doesn't heat up. Igniter isn't cracked and tests fine. What else could it be, the igniter lines?

We bought a house in 2004 that has a Tappan in wall gas oven. We found the owners manual with installation dates of August 1992 for both stove top and Oven. While away on vacation, my house-sitting 20 yr old daughter called to say it was not getting up to temperature. After watching various videos, they recommend checking the current to the ignitor on the glow tube... suggesting it would be 3.03-3.6 (same as on panel) but a clamp ammeter around the leads reads only 2.5 or so. The glow tube looks bright yellow-white as it reads anything at all. But I saw no gas jet, no ignition. How should I proceed? I have watched your video about replacing an ignitor, but cannot get behind this wall unit. PS: The two registration cards cite numbers of 14-2629-23 or 12-2299-10/05 but I can't tell which is which. Can you?

I have a Tappan Gas Oven purchased in 1985. No problems until now. The oven nor broiler will turn on. The burners all work fine. I put a new oven ignitor in the first of July. Worked great until last week. Now the oven won't heat at all or the broiler. Any suggestions what might be the problem. Can parts be ordered for this age of oven? I was told the oven was unfixable, but I don't want to give up yet. Thank you.
