When trying to start oven, sometimes smell of gas and then oven lights with a pop or bang (small explosion), also take about 20 minutes to heat up to 350* degrees.

The bottom oven burner will not ignite although the igniter glows yellow. The broiler and top burners all work well. Is this a faulty thermocouple and is that a part of the igniter?

When I turn on oven, it doesn't heat up. Igniter isn't cracked and tests fine. What else could it be, the igniter lines?

Latest Questions

This is Brandon from Kansas City, just thought maybe you would be the right guy to ask about my Kenmore gas oven problem. I'm not getting any gas to my oven, getting gas to the range just fine, all burners work properly. The ignition coils lights up orange, but the only way I could get the oven to light was to tap on the gas valve with a wrench. I've already replaced the gas valve and solenoid unit, still have no success, I tested the voltage and it was only getting 7V, so I replaced the ignition transformer (small box on the back of the oven), and the valve is now getting 9V but still wont open. The only way I can get even the brand new valve to open is to tap on the solenoid side very slightly with a wrench. So my last resort was to replace the connections to the solenoid, but still no success. Let me know if you have any ideas. Very Respectfully, Brandon

Hi - I'm fairly certain my oven igniter needs to be replaced (slow to heat up, etc.). However, my broiler has been out for a long time. Are there two separate igniters for my model oven that may need to be replaced?

I followed the video but have a different igniter than in the video. My igniter has one wire that goes to the gas valve and one wire that goes to the plastic clip. There is a third wire that goes from the plastic clip to the gas valve. The wires coming from the gas valve do not look like they can be disconnected. How do I replace the igniter?
