Hello I have a stove model MGF350SBWA, I am trying to convert from natural gas to propane. I called up to appliancepartspros.com requesting for an LP conversion kit, the representative advised to me that I do not need an LP orifice kit. Please advise me the steps that I need to take to convert the regulator and gas valve over for propane use.
To convert this unit to LP from Natural gas you would first need to remove the burners on the unit and tighten down the orifice spuds. There may also be air shutters on the burner that would need to be opened. You would do the same thing on the oven safety valve. On the regulator you would take the cap off and flip it over to where it is set for LP.
My stove top takes a long time to light once we have turned on our lower oven. I was told I needed to replace my gas regulator. When I wrote you about it you told me I needed to replace my upper safety valve. The upper oven was not even involved in my question. I am asking if it is an indication the gas regulator needs to be replaced.
Answer Hi Joel. Try to turn down your gas supply valve in line to the stove. If this corrects the issue, then you have issues in the supply line. If you have either black pipe or galvanized pipe, you can have moisture build up in the line causing corrosion build up. This in turn will create a higher pressure allowing your regulator diaphragm to flutter. If this is the case, then replace it with part # 5303935125. Thank you.
