All four burners come on but the bake compartment does not. The ignitor is glowing red but the stove never comes on and I dont smell any gas. Is my problem in the regulator?

Answer Hello Tony,
If the ignitor only turns red, I would suspect it. You see, the ignitor has to pull from 3.2 to 3.6 amps of current before the gas valve can open. If the ignitor turns red, it normally isn't drawing enough current to open the valve. Sometimes it doesn't open the valve when it turns orange. A new ignitor will normally glow almost white hot. The best way to test for sure is by using a clamp on amp meter TJCL1100 on one of the ignitor wires and check for the 3.2 to 3.6 amps. If it's there, the gas valve has failed. If it isn't, the ignitor has failed.
