The compresor works but it's not cooling top and butom of the fridge. What could be the problem?
You will want to pull the rear cover of the freezer compartment off. Check for a frost pattern on the coils. The coils should have a light full frost pattern. If there is no frost pattern at all and the fan is operational then you have a sealed system failure. If there is just ice coming on the small tube and is barely there then you would have a sealed system issue. If the coils are completely impacted with ice then there is a defrost failure in which you can turn the defrost timer, which is located in the control housing in the refrigerator compartment and can be turned by inserting a flat blade screw driver in the hole and turning, to see if the thermostat and heater are good. If they are good then replace the timer. If not then you will have to do a continuity test on the heater and thermostat and if one does not have continuity then replace that part. If the fan is not running then check for 120 vac to the fan if there is power there then replace the fan.
