Hi, this part is called the oven door Seal. The oven door seal has frayed at the top. How important is it to replace or can I just continue to use as is?

Answer Hi Electra. The oven door seal is very important. It is also a safety hazard because obviously it allows unsafe temperatures to escape the front door and surrounding areas. Someone might get injured. You will be able to efficiently (once again) reach and keep temperatures in the oven cavity for manufactures designed cycling of your oven. Food cooks faster. Your electricity bill will noticeably be cheaper as well. I heavily suggest using Oven Door Seal part # 318178801 should help . Thank you
