My stackable washer /dryer, 41799570150, tub seals, 5303279394, arrived with a spring in the center as support for the lower seal. My repair manual has me removing the old lower seal by pulling up on the same. Do I still install the new lower seal from the top or the bottom near the spin baring?
Answer Brian, Yes, you'll be installing the seal from the top. A little liquid detergent on the outer portion of the seal will be helpful. " Unless stated, reverse the procedure to reinstall the component." 1. Disconnect electrical power and pull the tub, leg and dome and base. 2. Remove the agitator, spin basket, trunnion and top half of the tub seal. 3. Place your thumbs on the bottom seal towards you and your fingers on the other side. Push down and in with your thumbs and pull in and up with your fingers to "pop" the seal out."
Water leaks from the bottom of tub as soon as I fill the machine with water. Do I need to replace the tub seal?
Answer Hello Shannon,
If the water is coming from the center of the outer tub where the transmission enters the washtub, the outer tub seal (AP2142342) is the issue. If it has been leaking and the unit has to be torn down this far, it is a smart idea to also replace the spin bearing (AP2131587) to prevent a premature failure, since a leak washes the lubrication from the spin bearing assembly.
