After installing a new beta control (5303918341) the ref. cooled properly, however will not defrost. I can't initiate a man. defrost cycle. The defrost heater and def. tstat are both good. This ref.defrosted fine before the control was replaced.
I've replaced the control a second time. Still won't defrost, any ideas on what to do next?
You will want to make sure that the correct software version is correct. To determine this you will Initiate the service test 1. Press and release the fresh food down key. The food display will show 1 followed by 1 denoting software version 1.1 or 1 followed by 2 denoting software version 1.2. If the version is 1.1 or lower then replace the beta control and if it is 1.2 or higher then it is correct. You will also want to check to make sure that the red and black wires on the control board are correctly installed. The red when looking at the back of the beta board would be on the horizontal terminal and the black would be on the vertical terminal. If this is not correct then you will need to change it as it will cause the unit to not defrost.
