I have a ice maker that is not working. We have replaced the Ice maker itself. The arm goes up and down, but no water comes in. The water dispenser in the door works fine. Also, prior to the water not coming in, the ice maker would only dispense crushed ice. You could not switch it to ice cubes. Do I have more than one defective part?

Answer Tom, Yes, you have more than one problem. The issue with the icemaker water supply is most likely a faulty water valve on the back of the refrigerator 242252702 As for the crushed ice issue, there are several components involved: the solenoid 241675801 the PC Board 5304422632 and the switch PC Board 241700109 If you have a multi meter, you could check for voltage at the solenoid, when you select / de select the cubed ice selection. Thanks and Good Luck
what does the actuator-solenoid specifically control or do?

Answer Tom, The solenoid actuator 241676101 is attached to the solenoid 241675801 . When you select crushed or cubed ice, the solenoid activates or remians neutral, and adjusts the shifter arm on the side of the ice bin, depending on the selection made. Thanks and Good Luck.
