Electrolux ice maker stopped crushing ice , how do I know if it's the spiral auger motor, or the solenoid?

I purchased the ice select solenoid from you. I watched the video. Unfortunately my panel is not held in by 4 screws as in the video. My panel is held in with two screws in the bottom of the assembly and lifts out like a slotted shelf bracket. I had no trouble removing the panel but I cannot get into the back of the panel to disconnect the cable. There is not enough room to rotate it and the shelf keeps me from being able to flip it enough to get to the connector. How do you disconnect the cable. The shelf below has a nylon spacer that prevents me from removing the shelf and cannot remove the spacer (I have been able to move the front shelf pins out of the holes). How do I get the shelf out or actually how do I get enough access enough space to the connector to disconnect it. HELP!

In your answer to my previous question you advised checking the Defrost Heater and then the Defrost Control. Will you tell me the proper part numbers for each? Do the come with install instructions?

There is a loud grinding noise originating in the freezer compartment. It occurs regularly these days twice a day lasting sometimes for hours. During these episodes the freezer looses cooling and defrosting occurs. Thought it was the ice maker because the noise seemed to be triggered when it dumps ice, but it works fine. Any ideas what could be causing the noise? Please help.

The solenoid that controls the cubed/crushed function is stuck in the up position, does not move up or down when the paddle is pressed. The brass arm (that the solenoid controls to open the chute for cubed ice) is actually holding the solenoid in the down position so cubes will be dispensed. Otherwise we only get crushed ice. Solenoid needs to be replaced, correct? If I'm on the right track with that, how do I go about removing the cover to access the solenoid to replace it? Specifically, which screws do I take out to remove the cover without inadvertently dismantling/damaging something unnecessarily? Thank you.
