Answer Hi Pam. Yes, the starter relay part # 218721103 is the part that needs immediat replacement. Keep in mind that the compressor windings may have been affected as well. Use the volt/ohm meter part # TJMA-DM1 to see if the compressor windings are ohming out ok. Between the c" and s' there will be approx 6-12 0hms and between c' to r' there will be 4-6 ohms. Make sure each leg to compressor ground has not shorted (o-ohms) to ground. Thank You.
I'm trying to replace the starter overload with a new one. How do I get the 2 wires out of old one? There is a red and white wire coming into it from the back of the refrigerator, probably from the fan blower plug. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Answer Hello Pam. This is a very good question. If you look at the hole where the wire goes in, one side is slotted, (small squared off slot). With the refrigerator unplugged, insert a small screwdriver into the hole with the wire on the side that the hole is slotted. There is a very small locking tab on the side of the spade connector that, when you hit it just right, will unlock the spade and it will pull easily out. This might take a few minutes, but once you get one out and you can see it, you will fully understand. I hope this helped and have a great day!
