I replaced the motor and tried to start the dryer and the resister on the temperature selector switch which jumps from the blue wire #5 and jump to #3 started smoking so i disconnected . can you tell me the color bands or resist on the resister ? would this keep the new motor from running ? what would cause that resister to go?Thanks for any suggestions! Ray
The resistor on the temperature control would not have any effect on the motor not running. The resistor is in line with the control thermostat. We do not have the color bands but the size of the resistor is 2.4K ohms of resistance. The resistor going out could be caused by a bad control thermostat or heater. The motor not running could be a bad thermal fuse or a bad door switch.
